Orchard introduces smart agriculture system

The milk fruit orchard in Mituo, Kaohsiung, faced water resource wastage due to traditional irrigation methods. To address this issue, the orchard decided to install soil and environmental temperature and humidity detection systems, integrating them with automated management. By adopting our smart agriculture technology, the goal was to enhance production efficiency, reduce costs, and achieve sustainable development.

System Implementation

  • Sensor Technology
Soil and environmental sensors were installed to monitor soil moisture, temperature, and weather conditions in real-time. The data is collected and analyzed via a cloud system.
  • Automated Irrigation
Based on soil moisture and weather forecasts, the irrigation amount is automatically adjusted to prevent water wastage.
  • Data Integration and Analysis
The system integrates power monitoring, flow meters, weather stations, and light sensors, and interfaces with weather forecast services to adjust agricultural operations in real-time.
  • Alarms and Notifications
The system is equipped with fault detection and early warning functions. It sends real-time notifications to farmers in the event of equipment failure or changes in weather conditions.

Results

  • Resource Conservation: Saved 80% of irrigation water.
  • Improved Efficiency: Reduced manual intervention and errors, increasing production efficiency.
  • Risk Management: Minimized risks associated with equipment failure or improper irrigation.
  • Data-Driven: Provided scientific data to improve agricultural management decisions.

The application of these technologies and systems not only enhanced the orchard's operational efficiency but also promoted sustainable development, providing a practical case for the future of smart agriculture.
